About Mikhail Higgins

Career highlights past and present

Based in Nassau, Bahamas, Dr. Mikhail Higgins provides high-tier interventional radiology (IR) services as a member of the Family Medicine Center and Doctors Hospital team and as President of the Bahamas Fibroid & Interventional Clinic. Among his areas of expertise and interest is healthcare provider Burnout. Writing the top published article in the Leadership category on Burnout, Dr. Higgins received the “Best of the Journal of the American College of Radiology” award in 2021 for his team's manuscript describing the predictors and epidemiology of Burnout experienced by radiologists practicing at academic medical centers across the United States.

Dr. Higgins earned his doctor of medicine with distinction at Wake Forest University School of Medicine, and undertook his residency training at the prestigious Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. He completed his medical training through an IR fellowship with the University of Virginia. Among his past positions, he was an assistant professor of radiology at Boston University, where he served as Director of medical student education for the department of radiology and also Program Director for the Early Specialization in Interventional Radiology pathway, guiding the work of students and fellow practitioners at Boston Medical Center.

Dr. Higgins is an experienced public presenter who has given numerous talks on Mindful Resilience, a method he developed. Drawing on experience competing as a 400 meter hurdler for the Bahamian junior-national team and as a certified yoga instructor, he has designed and tailored mind/body empowerment programs for high-performance professionals such as athletes, executives, and corporate groups. Also an experienced yoga instructor, Dr. Mikhail Higgins has taught classes with Core Power Yoga in Boston, Massachusetts.
